Two people from the Riverbend were injured and a third driver from St. Louis was killed in a 3-car crash on Highway 67 in north St. Louis County on Monday. The Missouri Highway Patrol closed the roadway for several hours and the Clark Bridge in Alton was also closed into Missouri while the crash was cleared.
A police report says around 6:25am a St. Louis man, 49 year old Mark A Varner, was driving a Hyundai Genesis that was northbound on 67 just north of Lindbergh and crossed the center median, colliding head-on with a southbound Chevy Equinox driven by 22 year old Rachel Acord of Alton who was seriously injured. Her vehicle spun and hit a Honda HRV driven by 49 year old Dawn Woodrum of Overland, Missouri, who was injured as was her passenger, 56 year old Lolita Blair of Godfrey. All three were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Varner died at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
