The 10-year-old Jacoby Arts Center in Alton continues to move toward more solid financial ground, as the community has offered financial support following news of the financial peril the center is dealing with.  In late March, it was announced the center needed $85,000 to get out of debt, and the response has been great according to the center’s executive director.  The 50 / 50 Art, Antiques and Collectibles Auction raised about $10,000 to put toward operating expenses

Cora Miller, Jacoby Board President, says in addition to raising funds, they are analyzing operations to ensure its long-term success.  She says the community has been wonderful in its response

She says they cant breathe too easy yet, as they still have several thousand dollars to go to meet their goal.  If you would like to donate to the Jacoby Arts Center, call 462-5222.
