(Alton, IL - January 26, 2010) – Scheffel & Co. P.C. continues to expand its cache of staff accountants, most recently with Lisa Winkeler and Joel Bradley in the Highland office and Andrew Vanausdoll at the Alton location.
Winkeler, from St. Rose, Ill., graduated last year with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she is currently pursuing her master’s degree and earning hours required to take the Certified Public Accountant exam.
All it took was an accounting class her senior year of high school to discover how much she loved the field.
“I’m really happy to be working at Scheffel,” Winkeler said. “I like the personal contact and the friendly atmosphere, and the fact that I’ll be exposed to many types of accounting work at this firm.”
Bradley agrees, noting that Scheffel’s broad range of services offers a lot of possibilities for the future. Bradley is a native of Highland, and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accountancy and plans to sit for his CPA designation later in the year.
Bradley began college in the business field and was steered toward an accounting major by an instructor, and he found it to be interesting and fun.
“I’m extremely excited to be working in the field, particularly for Scheffel & Co.” Bradley said.
Vanausdoll, from Jerseyville, is currently working part-time at Scheffel while completing his bachelor’s degree in accountancy at SIUE. He will become a full-time employee after completing his degree this summer, when he will also begin work on his master’s program.
Vanausdoll knew SIUE had a strong accounting program, and he had a knack for mathematics in high school. When he became involved in college accounting courses, he knew he had found the perfect fit. He plans to sit for the CPA exam within the next year or so.
The new staff accountants will begin working on corporate audits, tax returns and bookkeeping tasks.
