Establishing a new 20 miles per hour school zone speed limit is just one piece of a puzzle that Alton School District Superintendent David Elson hopes will curb the rash of recent incidents at and near Alton High School. Along with the signs, increased patrols by the Madison County Sheriff's Department are planned, and Elson says watching to see if students are using the south entrance for a quicker exit before turning around and heading north is also planned.
