Alan Gilmore New CEO

For Jersey County Business Association

Jerseyville, Illinois June 16, 2009 Alan Gilmore has been hired as the new CEO of the Jersey County Business Association. He and his wife Emily will be moving to the Jersey County area in the next few months. Alan will officially start his duties with the JCBA on July 13, 2009.

Gilmore recently retired as City Administrator from the City of Mattoon, Illinois since accepting the position on March 1, 2006. Gilmore has 22 & 1/2 years of experience working with Local Officials in a team effort on many economic development projects while also serving as City Administrator in the communities of Tuscola, Flora and Paris, Illinois. In Tuscola, Gilmore coordinated the incentives and infrastructure extensions for the Factory Stores of Tuscola outlet mall and the Ironhorse Golf course and subdivision featuring 135 housing lots. Upon relocating to Flora, Illinois Gilmore worked with Utilicorp to construct a $120,000,000 gas fired electric generation facility. During his tenure in Flora, Gilmore also assisted North American Lighting and Minwax with several plant expansions. In 2001 Paris, Illinois recruited Gilmore to fill the City Administrator vacancy. While employed at Paris, Gilmore represented the City in siting North American Lighting's new $14,000,000 manufacturing facility in the Paris Industrial Park. The following year North American Lighting relocated their World Headquarters to Paris, Illinois. Most recently Gilmore led negotiations on a $5,000,000 renovation of the Cross County Mall and for a 30,000 square foot Convention Center featuring 3 motels and 5 national theme restaurants. Throughout his career Gilmore has utilized the local, state and federal economic development programs to create new investment and employment for the communities he has served. Gilmore and his wife Emily have 5 adult children and enjoy traveling to visit their children.

Dave Lewis, Chairman of the Board, is pleased to announce that the search for a new CEO has ended with a very qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position.

Gilmore is truly excited to have been selected as the new CEO. "I am anxious to get settled in Jersey County and acquainted with the all the people in the community who have been involved with making Jersey County a center for business and industry. I believe that Jersey County is poised for major economic growth and development in the next few years. One of my first tasks will be contacting Senator Durbin and Congressman Shimkus to secure funding for roadway improvements from the Metro East Area into Jersey County. Jersey County already has a strong sense of itself and it is my intension to build from these strengths to make it even better community for future generations."
