I got into my line of work because I love stories.

When I was a kid I read a lot of comic books and mythologies, and they were great for the imagination. Now that they tell me I'm a grown-up...I tell very different stories but with the same kind of open mind: news-related, public interest, local business, humanitarian stories...Instead of larger-than-life characters and sensationalized tales, let's talk about everyday folks just doing some good here and there...

We stopped in at the Lewis & Clark Center Saturday for their totally-awesome Garrison Weekend...Reenacters from all over gathered here today to show the crowds some of the various military groups that have shaped the riverbend area's growth throughout history. Plus, there were canons...very cool canons......
The Confluence Crush invited us out for their match this weekend in Belleville. The ladies walked us through how roller derby works, how points are scored, and what the best parts of the game really are!
Lewis & Clark Community College once again hosted their annual trebuchet contest, and this was one of their best years yet! This year there were 40 teams competed in the tournament!
We hitched a ride withJ.E. Roberts Tours and the Lewis & Clark faculty to take a deeper look at Alton's history with the Underground Railroad.
RIverbender.com stopped in at the Jacoby Arts Center to see their 3rd Annual Clay Olympics and their incredible exhibit, Material Attractions:Diverse Reactions. We met some fun and interesting folks and saw some truly creative clay works!

We stopped in at Villa Rose for their 16th annual quilt exhibit to for a few lessons in history and what craftmanship meant at the turn of the century. We made a lot of new friends, saw some beautiful pieces, and we were privileged to see Villa Rose's contribution to the national Quilts of Valor effort....

We were present for the City of Alton Planning Commission's meeting yesterday to approve the design of Alton's new Multi-Modal complex. Council members and the public, alike, we able to view and ask questions about the designs and what the new building might mean for Alton in the future.
