3rd Annual Picklin' for a Cause Pickleball Tournament

The Village of East Alton Parks and Recreation is hosting the 3rd annual PICKLIN’ FOR A CAUSE pickleball tournament January 17 & 18, 2026 at the Keasler Recreation Complex. The theme for 2026 is PICKLIN’ FOR PAWS to benefit local Godfrey-based FOUND A HOUND RESCUE (FAHR).  FAHR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of street dogs. They specialize in tracking and trapping lost and stray dogs and will rescue dogs from local animal control facilities, frequently providing spay/neuter or other medical care when needed.  All tournament proceeds will go directly to FAHR.

Fueled by a similar mission, FAHR collaborates with TREEHOUSE WILDLIFE CENTER in Dow, IL to assist in trapping injured and sick wildlife. Donated items for TreeHouse Wildlife Center's will also be collected during the tournament. Needed items for TreeHouse Wildlife Center can be found on their Facebook page.

Particpants can register for the tournament at www.signupville.com.  Divisions include gender doubles and mixed doubles for 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 skill levels. All gender doubles competition will be held on Saturday, January 17 starting at 8:00AM and mixed doubles will be held Sunday, January 18 starting at 10:00AM.  In conjunction with the tournament activity there will also be raffle prizes, a 50:50 drawing both days and concession items for purchase.  

The Picklin' for a Cause tournament is a very popular event for the Village of East Alton attaining sold-out status the past two years, raising more than $8,000 for American Cancer Society Relay for Life (2024) and Land of Lincoln Honor Flight (2025).  There are still a few team spots available for 2026 with registration closing on December 31, 2025.  

The tournament committee is still seeking event sponsorships.  Anyone interesting in helping to support the event may contact Gabby Parker, Parks and Recreation Supervisor at 618.259.7411.  Requested items include gift cards to local businesses, vouchers, concession items or cash donations.  

Spectators are welcome and encouraged to participate in all activities associated with Picklin' for Paws.
