SUMMARY:3rd Annual Picklin' for a Cause Pickleball Tournament

DESCRIPTION:The Village of East Alton Parks and Recreation is hosting 
the 3rd annual PICKLIN&rsquo\; FOR A CAUSE pickleball tournament Janua
ry 17 & 18\, 2026 at the Keasler Recreation Complex. The theme for 202
6 is PICKLIN&rsquo\; FOR PAWS to benefit local Godfrey-based FOUND A H
OUND RESCUE (FAHR). FAHR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicat
ed to the rescue and rehabilitation of street dogs. They specialize in
tracking and trapping lost and stray dogs and will rescue dogs from l
ocal animal control facilities\, frequently providing spay/neuter or o
ther medical care when needed. All tournament proceeds will go directl
y to FAHR.\n\nFueled by a similar mission\, FAHR collaborates with TRE
EHOUSE WILDLIFE CENTER in Dow\, IL to assist in trapping injured and s
ick wildlife. Donated items for TreeHouse Wildlife Center's will also 
be collected during the tournament. Needed items for TreeHouse Wildlif
e Center can be found on their Facebook page.\n\nParticpants can regis
ter for the tournament at www.signupville.com. Divisions include gende
r doubles and mixed doubles for 3.0\, 3.5 and 4.0 skill levels. All ge
nder doubles competition will be held on Saturday\, January 17 startin
g at 8:00AM and mixed doubles will be held Sunday\, January 18 startin
g at 10:00AM. In conjunction with the tournament activity there will a
lso be raffle prizes\, a 50:50 drawing both days and concession items 
for purchase. \n\nThe Picklin' for a Cause tournament is a very popula
r event for the Village of East Alton attaining sold-out status the pa
st two years\, raising more than $8\,000 for American Cancer Society R
elay for Life (2024) and Land of Lincoln Honor Flight (2025). There ar
e still a few team spots available for 2026 with registration closing 
on December 31\, 2025. \n\nThe tournament committee is still seeking e
vent sponsorships. Anyone interesting in helping to support the event

7411. Requested items include gift cards to local businesses\, voucher
s\, concession items or cash donations. \n\nSpectators are welcome and
encouraged to participate in all activities associated with Picklin'
