The Alton Redbirds defeated the Edwardsville Tigers in Southwestern Conference baseball and softball Tuesday. 

In SWC baseball:

Alton doubled up Edwardsville, 4-2 at Gordon Moore Park.  The Tigers got on the board first on Brock Weimer’s two-run home run off of Alton starter Bryan .  The Redbirds rallied for a 4-run 5th inning to make a winner out of Hudson (6-and-3). 

The 6-foot-7 junior lefthander went 7 innings and struck out 10 on the day. 

Alton – 16-9 (3-5)

Edwardsville – 18-4 (7-1)

In SWC softball – Tuesday: 

Alton won at Edwardsville, 6-2.  The Redbirds broke a 1-1 tie with a 5-run 7th inning.  Winning pitcher Morgan Butler’s two run single started the rally.  Haley Longo added a three-run double.  

Redbirds – 13-7 (4-3)

Tigers – 18-3 (5-2)
