The Missouri Tigers have hired a new head basketball coach.  45-year old Cuonzo Martin has been named the Tigers' 19th head coach in school history replacing Kim Anderson who was fired after an 8-and-24 season.  Martin is a native of East St. Louis and played college basketball at Purdue (1991-1995).

Martin agreed to a 7-year, 21-million dollar deal to coach Mizzou basketball.  He has coached the last three seasons at Cal posting a record of 62-and-39.

He also spent three years each as head coach of Tennessee (63-41) and Missouri State (61-41).  In his 9 years as a head coach he has an overall record of 186-and-121.
