The season is over for the Marquette Lady Explorers after a close game in front of a big crowd in Calhoun last night in the Class 1A Sectional Championship.   The Calhoun Lady Warriors held on to beat Marquette42-41.   Freshman Jordie Wilson scored 14 points, including four three pointers to lead the Lady Explorers back from a 10-point deficit in the second quarter.  The teams traded the lead for most of the second half, but a Calhoun held on in the final moments to win the game.  Cassie McFadden had 13 for Marquette who finishes the season at 20-10.  Calhoun was lead by Morgan Stein with 13 points, and improves to 29-4.   They will move on to the Jacksonville Super Sectional on Monday night at Illinois College.



In other girls playoff action last night, in 4A, Edwardsville over Quincy 55-28 in the Edwardsville Regional.  The Lady Tigers are now 30-1 on the year.  Belleville West over Belleville East 53-37 at the West Regional.   


In 3A…Highland outlasted Breese Mater Dei 54-50. Centralia beat Mt.Vernon 43-36. 


In 2A girls playoff action in the sectional finals at Beardstown, Quincy Notre Dame over Williamsville 90-28.   At Sesser, Breese Central beat Nashville 32-28.
