The Marquette Explorers boys soccer squad won the Class 1A state championship Saturday night (October 27, 2012) in Normal, Illinois.  The Explorers defeated Urbana University High, 4-1 in the state title game at Corn Crib Stadium. 

Marquette shot past Hinckley-Big Rock, 4-3 in the state semi-finals to advance to the Class 1A state championship match.

Marquette got goals in the state semi’s from Noah Johnes, Nick Schranck, and two from Matt .

In the state title game, the Explorers goals came from Hampton, two from Stephen Peuterbaugh, and Caleb McClintock. 

The Explorers finished the season with a record of 20-6-1.

They won 12 games in a row and 17 of their last 18 to finish out the 2012 season.
