Edwardsville Post 199's 14-game winning streak was snapped emphatically last night as Nopoleon, Ohio bashed Edwarsdville 10-4 at the American Legion Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Terre Haute, Indiana. Michael Gilliland went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI in support of winning pitcher Tyler Batt, who allowed 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 and two-thirds innings of work. Devin Breihan took the loss for Edwardsville after allowing 8 runs (4 earned) on nine hits over seven innings of work. Alec Pizzini hit a home run while Drew Curtis and Jevon Boyd also tallied an RBI in the loss for Post 199.
Edwardsville will face Plover, Wisconsin in an elimination game at 3 p.m. today in Indiana. A win would send Post 199 into tomorrow's finals, where they would need to win twice to advance to next week's World Series in Shelby, North Carolona.
