The Clemson Tigers upset top-ranked Alabama, 35-31 to win college football's national championship game (Monday night) in Tampa, Florida.
Clemson's DeShaun Watson threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfow with 1-second left to give the Tigers the national title. Watson finished the game 36-for-56 for 420 yards and three touchdowns.
The lead changed hands four times during the fourth quarter. Alabama led 24-14 to start the fourth period. Jalen Hurts' 30-yard TD run gave Alabama a 31-28 lead with 2:07 remaining. Hurts was 13-for-31 for 131 yards with 1 rushing TD and 1 passing TD. Bo Scarbrough rushed for 93 yards and 2-TD's for the Crimson Tide.
Both teams finish the season 14-and-1. It's Clemson's first national title since 1981.
