The St. Louis Blues scored three times in the opening period and went on to beat the Blue Jackets, 4-to-1 in Columbus (Ohio) Thursday night.  Barret Jackman, Patrik Berglund, and Vladimir Tarasenko each lit the lamp in the first period.  David Backes added an empty net goal late in the game for the Bluenotes.  

St. Louis improved to 6-and-1 to start the season while Columbus dropped to 2-5-and-1.

The Blues skate in Detroit tonight (Friday) against the Red Wings.  The puck drops at Joe Louis Arena tonight at 6:30 pm.
