Virginia Bowman

Virginia Ann Bowman, 97, passed away at 12:45 am Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Carlinville, IL.She was born in Bevier, MO on April 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Roscoe Rae and Ruth (Pearl) Hancock.Virginia married John M. Bowman on April 12, 1938 in Bevier, Mo. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1978.She was the landlord and manager of many rental properties. She enjoyed raising canaries winning multiple Best in Class Awards in the Missouri and Piasa Cage Bird Associations. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and their families.She is survived by a granddaughter and her spouse; Linda and Rich Land-Sleboda of Litchfield, IL, a grandson and his spouse; Steve and Karen Pelot of Camdenton, MO, four great-grandchildren; Ronald Land and Phillip Land, Dana and Doug and five great-great-grandchildren; Jarrod. Kailyn, Logan, Dylan, Eric and Sara: and a brother; Carl Sachs of CA.   In addition to her husband, and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter; Dinah R. Pelot, six sisters; Rae, Carol, Holberta, Georgia Elizabeth “Lizy”, Lilly, and Patsy.In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2 to 4  pm at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday, March 31, 2014 with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL.Memorials may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice
