Shirley Oulson

GRAFTON – Shirley Mae Oulson, 80, of Grafton, died at 4:55 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.

She was born on December 18, 1934 in Alton, one of two children born to the late Edward and Armell (Fox) Maupin.

Shirley grew up in the Alton/Godfrey area and later relocated to Grafton where she has remained for the last 55 years where she made many lasting friendships and was a devoted member of the Grafton United Methodist Church.

She married Curtis Robin Oulson on February 23, 1952 in Arkansas and together they shared nearly 58 years together before his death on January 16, 2010.  

Shirley was a loving and devoted to Curtis, and she enjoyed tending to her home, cooking and cleaning, and nuturing the flowers, particularly her roses.  She will always be remembered for the smile that she always possessed.

Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, John and Wendy Maupin of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; a sister, Rebecca Roesch of Normal; as well as her dear friends and caretakers, Ted and Lisa Crithfield and their children, Tanner, Samantha & Brandon of Grafton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diana Oulson and a brother-in-law, Louis Roesch.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at  1 p.m. at

 the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton with the Rev Adam Hosmer officiating.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
