Shirley Ann McGlasson, 80, died at 5:42 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton. Born January 30, 1935 in Alton, she was the daughter of Peter and Pauline (Hussman) Walter. She married Robert Glenn McGlasson on June 27, 1954 in Alton. He survives. Mrs. McGlasson retired from the Alton School District where she worked as a cashier and cook. She also worked as a secretary for Goolsby Accounting. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Along with her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Denise Gail Strader of Overland Park, KS, Dyann Louise Clark (Rick) of Austin, TX, and Dawn Elaine Emshousen (Kurt) of Bethalto, one son, Dennis Wayne McGlasson (Beth) of Jerseyville, 11 grandchildren, Erin Davis (Will) of Austin, TX, Jessica Stiverson of Godfrey, Stephanie Stiverson of Godfrey, Amanda Clark of Austin, TX, Meagan McGlasson of Jerseyville, Rachel McGlasson of Jerseyville, Brad Stiverson of Bethalto, Hannah Strader of Overland Park, KS, Connor Emshousen of Bethalto, Eric Stiverson of Bethalto, and Madison Emshousen of Bethalto. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Patrick Strader, two brothers, Clyle “Skeeter” Walter and Donald “Jake” Walter, and a sister, Doris “Sissy” Baty. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
