Robert Lee Bunch, 80, went to heaven at 2:25 p.n. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 16, 1934 in Neeleyville, he was the son of Phillip  Warren and Martha (Vortman) Bunch.

A graduate of Chapin High School, he looked forward to class reunions, never missing a one.  Following graduation, he entered the army and served as a medic in Germany, where he met Gudrun Klein.  The two were married on October 18, 1959 in East Alton.  She died August 26, 2000.

Bob had worked in the fabrication department of the Olin Corporation in East Alton for 43 years before retiring.  Hunting was his passion.  He loved to go to Winchester, hunting at his cousin Oren's farm.

In his last year, Bob resided with his daughter Shana, due to failing health.

He is survived by his two daughters, Shana (Chad) Olinghouse of East Alton, Rebecca (Mike) Knight of Wood River; eight grandchildren, who referred to him as "Opa", Rhiannon, Emilee, Caitlyn and Abigail Olinghouse, Michael Robert and Samantha Knight, Halie Olinghouse and Shane Phillips; a sister, Anna Belle Bick; brother, Byron (Dixie) Bunch all of Shell Knob, MO; sister-in-law, Helen Bunch of Godfrey; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his best pal, 'Tessie', their dog.

Preceding in death were his parents; wife; and a brother, James Bunch, whom he was very close and missed a lot.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
