Robert Eugene Landiss, 96, passed away at 8:59 am Tuesday, September 1,
2015 at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
He was born on March 2, 1919 in Alton, Illinois the son of the late
William and Martha Jane (Jewsbury) Landiss.
He married Norma Lenhardt on July 10, 1942 in Alton. She preceded him in
death on April 11, 2009.
Bob was a cost accountant at Duncan Foundry and Machine Works before
retiring after 40+ years. He enjoyed traveling after retirement. He
reached the 32nd degree in Masonry and joined the Ainad Shrine, served
in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater, and was an active
member of Alton Little Theater. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian
Church in Alton.
Bob is survived by three children; Jeanne L. Sullivan of Jacksonville,
FL, Mark E. Landiss of Hazelwood, MO, Daniel J. (Pavla) Landiss of St.
Louis; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by three
brothers, Charles, Francis, and Howard Landiss.Memorial Service will be at 10 am, Monday, September 14, 2015 at 1st Presbyterian Church at 4th Street and Alby in Alton.
