Richard M. Abbott, age 92, of Cape Canaveral, Florida formerly of Chesterfield, Missouri died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Richard was a retired District Manager for Shell Oil Company in St. Louis. He was born April 26, 1923, in Evanston, Illinois the son of the late Joseph & Lenora Abbott. Richard married his wife Anne on April 22, 1950. She preceded him on June 12, 2005. He is survived 5 sons, Richard Abbott & wife Marcie of Valencia, CA, Robert Abbott of Cape Canaveral, Gregory Abbott of Moorpark, CA, Jeffrey Abbott of Cape Canaveral, and John Abbott & wife Michelle of Edwardsville; 2 daughters, Regina Dightman & husband Morri of Post Falls, Idaho and Janet Leemhuis & husband Fred of Coral Springs, FL; and 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Shaina, & Aaron Dightman, Rachel, Sarah, Jessica, Jacob, Katelyn, Lindsay, and Lauren Abbott. He was preceded in death by 1 son, James Abbott. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard was a Lt. Commander serving as a Naval Aviator in the South Pacific during World War II. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
