Pearlie Mae Owens (Pearl Miller) was born September 3, 1935 in Wilmot,  Arkansas, the daughter of Willie and Ida Owens. After the death of her parents, at age three months, she was adopted by her mother’s sister and husband Lula and Ross Washington.  Pearl was raised in Cairo, Illinois with her adoptive sisters and brothers.  She was later adopted by Herbert and Ura Lee Hardimon. She continued her education in Alton, where she graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1954.  Pearl went to Lewis and Clark Community College and received her childcare certificate, and a  CNA Certificate later in 1984.  Her sisters and brothers were Chester Owens, Clifton Owens, Robert Ward and sisters, Ella Mae Whaley, Katie Holt and Rosie Mae Owens. All have preceded her in death including a daughter Vickie Hardimon and a granddaughter Takisha Moore and a dear friend Ann Clark.Pearl worked at Alton Memorial Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital retiring in 2002.  Currently she was employed for the Department of Rehabilitation Service.  She was formerly married to Elijah Miller. (He survives).   Pearl was saved at 15 years of age at St. James Baptist Church. Mother Pearl was a member of The Church of the Good Samaritans and served on the Mother’s Board, Usher Board, and a Sunday School Teacher. She has worked in an array of positions at the church wherever God needed her. On Friday May 1, 2015 Pearl M. Miller departed This Place for her Prepared Place, at Christian Hospiital Northeast in St. Louis Missouri.  She was blessed with seventy-nine years.She leaves to forever love and cherish memories, her two sons, Elijah “Wayne” (Judy) Miller of Alton; and Ralph “Linny” (Terrilynn) Miller of Godfrey; grandchildren, Elijah III, Ralph Jr., Tabitha, Quanita, Joshua and Sergio, twenty-two great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, nieces she raised Gloria Wright and Feleshia Ramey,  sisters and brothers Herbert, Larry, Victor, Ella, Geneva, Margaret and Shirley, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends Vera Gray, Shelby Crowder and Sarah Simmons and  many other friends.Visitation Saturday May 9, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Good Samaritans.   3418 College Ave. Alton, Illinois 62002Rev.
