Patricia “Pat” Harpole, 73, passed away at 4:15pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at her home. She was born on August 8, 1941, in Alton the daughter of the late Sarah Louise Whelan. She married William “Bill” Harpole on March 5, 1960, in Alton and he survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Michael and Jenny Harpole of Brighton, Jack and Juli Harpole of Alton, two daughters and sons in law: Tamara and Mark Gorman of Alton, Wendy and Chris Summers of Alton, ten grandchildren, and one sister and brother in law: Sandy and Steve Bequette of Evansville, Indiana.
She was a devoted wife of 55 years and a wonderful mother, but nothing brought her more joy than being a grandma. She always cherished her time with “her babies” whether she was planning a play day or she was putting them to work. Pat enjoyed going to church and working for the Lord. She loved serving people, helping in the church kitchen, and being a part of the women’s ministry at Spring Street Assembly of God and at 1st Assembly of East Alton where she was a member. She had many lifelong friends that were dear to her heart. She loved having fish fry’s, backyard get together’s, and camping at her favorite campground, Sam A. Baker State Park. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed collecting and doing anything patriotic.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 1pm until time of funeral services at 3pm on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. Roy Rhodes will officiate. Private burial will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Milton Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials are suggested to the Missions Fund at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton where she attended.
Pat never met a stranger and she will always be our “Sunshine.”
