Mildred Louise Orr, 92, joined the Lord her Savior at 7:30 PM Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was born June 1, 1922 in Jerseyville to Walter C. and Ina Belle (Hunter) Long.
Mildred will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her husband, W. Rollin Orr of 75 years. In addition, she is survived by a daughter Sharon K. (Pitchford) Korando of Wood River; a son, John E. Orr of Dallas, TX; a daughter-in-law Mary Orr of Bethalto; 12 grandchildren Lynda (Pitchford) Tite, Jeffrey Pitchford Korando, Gregory Pitchford Korando, Cathie Wells, Sherry Parks, Kevin Orr, Jennifer Orr, Morgan Orr, Jacob Orr, Randy Korando, Robin Woodson and Chris Korando; 18 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Hanold of Brighton; and sister-in-laws Kay Long of Brighton and Dorothy Orr of Denver and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald D. Orr; and son-in-laws, Elbert Pitchford and “Bud” Korando; two brothers, William C. Long and John Long; and sisters Edith Moore and Lois and Frances Long.
Mildred had worked in retail for numerous years and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Brighton and the East Alton Women’s Club. Mildred and Rollin and their family were members of the First Baptist Church of East Alton where Mildred taught Sunday School and was an active member. In recent years they attended the First Baptist Church of Bethalto.
Visitation will be 10 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 pm Wednesday, August 6 at the First Baptist Church in Bethalto. Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Chip Faulkner will officiate.
