Michael Walter Delaney, 69, died at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Crystal Creek Nursing Home in Florissant, MO. Born August 20, 1946 in Alton, he was the son of Valentine J. and Kathleen L. (Walter) Delaney. He worked in the warehouse at Pepsi Cola Bottling Inc. in Alton. He was a big fan of University of Illinois sports as well as Alton basketball and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Dee Ann and Patrick Jones of Jerseyville, a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Amy Delaney of St. Peters, MO, four grandchildren, Hannah and Lane Jones, and Sophie and Sylas Delaney, a sister, Patty (Brad) Kreider of Alton, and a brother, Jim (Vicky) Delaney and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Val “Joe” Delaney. A private memorial mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Hope Rescues or the Make a Wish Foundation. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
