Michael "Mike" J. Lamere, 72, of Alton, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 3, 1951, the son of Albert W. and Lovalle M. (Nelson) Lamere, in Mt. View, MO while raised in White Church, MO.
Mike is a veteran of the United States Army from 1971 to 1978, during the Vietnam Conflict, which took him to Germany. He worked for National Maintenance & Repair as a mechanic. He was later the owner and operator of L & L Truck Repair. He was a member of FCF Church in Hartford. Mike enjoyed old cars, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.
Mike is survived by his wife Barbara (Parker). They married on October 10, 2014 in Edwardsville. He is also survived by a son, Michael L. Lamere of Bethalto; a daughter, Angel (Chad) Brenner of Bethalto; his stepchildren, Matt Harrison, Sarah Harrison, and Paul Harrison; a brother, Frank (Cathie) Lamere of Alton; and five grandchildren, Chelsea Brenner, David (Morgan) Brenner, Aleesha Lamere, Jillian Hines, and Aela Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Vickie Lynn (McIntire) Lamere, they were married on March 5, 1971 and she passed on May 20, 2011; and seven siblings, Al Lamere, Jr, Sissi Lamere, Sherman Lamere, Ted Lamere, Mary Freeman, Joe Lamere, and Betty Stokes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens with military rites performed by Alton VFW Post 1308.
