Mary Louise Gottlob, 86, of Godfrey, a dedicated mother and grandmother, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at her home surrounded with great love and caring by her family.Mary was born on November 21, 1928 the daughter of the late John E. Butler and Viola R. (Berghoff) Butler Walsh of Alton.St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton was the site of her wedding to John Henry Gottlob of Alton on November 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1987.Her family includes sons William (Sherie) Gottlob of Alton; John “Jack” (Sandy) Gottlob of Godfrey; and daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Willmore of Godfrey.Mary’s grandchildren include John M. (Jennifer) Gottlob of Godfrey; Jane (Michael) Wallace of Blue Springs, MO; Sarah Gottlob of Chicago; Rachel (Sammer) Taha of Ballwin, MO; Joseph Gottlob of Alton; Nick (Carmen) Flink of Raymore, MO; and Brad Flink of Miami, FL.Mary was blessed with ten great-grandchildren who include Shelby Gottlob of Alton; Sloane Gottlob of Alton; Diana (Maranda Trahan) Soliwon of Satellite Beach, FL; Hayden Wallace, Molly Dixon, Morgan Wallace, and Betsy Dixon all of Blue Springs, MO; Oliver and Miles Taha of Ballwin, MO; and Alicia Flink of Raymore, MO.As a resident of Alton, Mary attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Marquette Catholic High School, graduating with the Class of 1946. She retired in 1991 from Olin-Winchester Division, after 30 years of service.Mary was a spunky, feisty lady who loved her Friday nights at the VFW in Alton, loved bowling and having a good time. She best loved having her family around her and sharing her home with family. She loved her pets like children and leaves her beloved cat, Sissy, behind as well.Friends will be able to pay their respects and visit with the family on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, 1313 W. Delmar, Godfrey. Services will be held there on Tuesday, February 17 at 10:00 am with graveside services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton following.Memorials may be made to 5A’s Animal Shelter or VFW Post #1308.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
