Mary Helen McKenzie, 84, passed away 5:14 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony Health Center in Alton.
Born on July 2, 1930 in Cashe, IL, she had worked for the Olin Corporation, East Alton School District 13 and was a dedicated and loving mother.
Mary had been a PTA member while her children were growing up and an active member of the 1st Baptist Church in Wood River.
On November 29, 1946 in Chester, she married Carl R. McKenzie. He died July 1, 2009.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Taulbee of East Alton, Margaret and Wayne Schmidt of Rosewood Heights; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Paul Edward McKenzie; great grandson, Alex Taulbee; son-in-law, Jack Toulbee; and two brothers, Thomas and Ralph Butler.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Rob Kirbach will officiate.
Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
