Mary Ann Cummings, 83 of Jerseyville, passed away at 11:56 A.M. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Willow Rose Nursing & Rehabilitation, with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Lester & Marie A. (Austin) Whyers in Brighton, Illinois on October 15, 1932.
Mary attended Alton High School and after graduating, became employed at Alton Glass Works, where she worked for several years, before moving to Brighton in 1965. She was known for her beautiful crocheting and embroidery work. Mary was also known for her captivating smile, her contagious laugh, her candor and an keen sense of humor. She had a lifelong love of animals and all things Elvis Presley and Andy Griffith. Mary loved music and was a beautiful dancer. In her younger years, her Charleston was a sight to behold.
Survivors include 4 daughters; Janet & Mike Harvey of Hartford, Deb & Douglas Eyers of Brighton, Karen Cummings of Godfrey, Cheryl & Bill Brock of Carrollton, 2 sons; Michael Cummings of Wood River, Steven Cummings of Wood River, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister and her spouse; Alice & Harold Wright of Godfrey, 1 niece and 3 nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister; Judy Criscione
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Mon., February 22, 2016 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton

Burial will take place at the Ingersol Cemetery in rural Madison County.
