Lylah Irene Hock, 85, formerly of Cottage Hills, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Parkway Manor in Marion.Born in Marine on March 5, 1929, she was the daughter of Christian Phillip and Irene (Zimmerman) Mutzner.She had been a civilian employee for the Depart of Defence for over 25 years before retiring. She had been a member of Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsdville, Marion Senior Citizens and Band; and the Order of Eastern Star Edwardsville Chapter.On April 24, 1949 in Highland, she married Wilbur F. "Bill" Hock. He died in 1994.Surviving are a son, Dr. Randy A. (Patricia) Hock of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Beverly (Paul) Boyt of Marion; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Theresa) Boyt, Mary (Austin) Mohr, Rachel and Isaac Hock; two great grandchildren, Rebekah and Michael Boyt; and a sister, Helen Buford of Edwardsville.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Loretta Saylor and Hazel Crawford.Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Dale Bartels will officiate.Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be made to the Geriatric Program at S.I.U.
