Lois Kasten passed away at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at 3:15 pm on Friday, September 5, 2014, two weeks before her 91st birthday. She was born to Jack and Marie Wolf on September 19, 1923 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton.
Lois married Maurice "Gene" Kasten on September 9, 1946 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1982.
Lois retired as a secretary from Olin Corporation and was a life-long member of St. Bernard's/Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing BINGO, visiting with her family and the time she spent with the caring staff of Foxes Grove in Wood River.
Lois is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mae Kasten of Wood River, Bill and Jana Kasten of Troy; granddaughters, Leigh (Aaron) Robinson of Wood River, Lynn Kasten of Orlando, FL, Caroline (Cory) Crandall of Glen Carbon, Andrea Kasten of Wood River; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Tyler Robinson of Wood River; brother and sister-in-law, Jon R. and Jeri Wolf; niece and nephew, Steve (Vivian) Wolf, and Jane Keesling all of Bakersfield, CA.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday, September 8 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River. Father James Flach will officiate.
Private family burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church or St. Jude Research Hospital.
