Leta Jane Smiley, 87, died at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born January 8, 1928 in Godfrey, IL the daughter of the late Otto and Irene (Smith) Lundahl. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. On February 3, 1949 in Wood River, IL she married Frederick Smiley and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1987. Surviving are one daughter; Joann M. Smiley of Godfrey and Fred smiley (Sandie) of Wood River, IL, five grandchildren; Danny Smiley (Tina) of Sharpsburge, GA, Alex Smiley (Clair) of Roxana, Brent Smiley of Wood River, Holly Heafner (Dave) of Godfrey and Andrew Nasello of Godfrey, three great grandchildren; Aubrianna, Josh and McClain Smiley of Sharpsburge, GA, one brother; Ronald Lundahl (Carol) and one sister; Violet Raymond. She was preceded in death by five brothers; Paul, Andrew, Donnie, Ralph and Ellison, and one sister; Betty Crandall.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be at Upper Alton Cemetery on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Steffen to officiate.
