Leona Swingley

Leona “Kay” (Good) Swingley, 72, passed away at 1:00 am Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, surrounded by her family.  

She was born on February 7, 1943 in Lomax, IL, the daughter of the late John and Ida (Bell) Good.

She was formerly married to Daniel Swingley.  They married on November 23, 1990 in El Paso, TX.  He survives. 

She had worked at Magic Landing and enjoyed knitting, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Leona is survived by two grandchildren, Ashley & Tony Santoni and Jennifer Pilger; seven great grandchildren, Makala Bates, Erin Swingley, Bianca Swingley, Veronica Swingley, Tristen Swingley, Kaleb Bates, and Levy Bates; three great, great grandchildren, James Toombs, Kosten Greer, and Brittany Highley; her stepchildren and their spouses, Shannon Bates of Albany, WA, and Christopher (Blanca) Swingley of El Paso, TX; one sister, Sandra Olson of Lomax, IL, one uncle and his spouse, George (Francis) Ash of Ft. Madison, IA,  two aunts, Lanita Bernhart of Ft. Madison, IA and Deloris White of Iowa and a niece Marissa Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Thursa Maguire and one brother, David L. Good.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be given to the funeral home for Kay’s Funeral Expenses.
