Jose’ Morales

Jose’ Peter Morales, 75, died at 1:18 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born April 23, 1941 in Alton he was the son of Jose’ and Urvana (Macias) Morales.  Mr. Morales served in the U.S. Army and attended church at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  He retired in 1995 from the Illinois American Water Company after 20 years of service.  He also founded Morales Taco and was the owner and operator of the Los Tres Amigos restaurants.  He was a member of the VFW Post 1308, the American Legion, the Alton Eagles and the Mexican Honorary Commission.  He was an avid fast pitch softball player and known for his “mystery pitch.”  On June 14, 1969 he married the former Linda Bush in Alton.  She survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Dawn Treece (Keith) of Romeo, Michigan, Melinda Wilkinson (Shawn) of Wood River and Urvana Morales (Steve Humiston) of Alton, two sons, Jeff Morales (Anita Murphy) of Wood River and Jose’ Morales of Wood River, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brothers, Mario Morales of Phoenix, AZ and a sister, Rose Brewer of Cuba, MO.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Corwin, two brothers, Raymond and Michael Morales and two sisters, Lolly Voyles and Angie Hagen.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
