John Misturak

John Misturak, 85, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:17 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home. He was born April 22, 1930 in Desloge, Missouri, a son of the late Peter and Anna (Kondrich) Misturak. He married Glennis O. (Ross) Misturak on July 27, 1963 in Granite City and she passed away on May 9, 2007. He had worked for A.O. Smith and McDonnell Douglas for many years in plant maintenance prior to his retirement from Boeing in 1993. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed working puzzles and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by a step-daughter, Holly Kramer Lee of Granite City; son, John M. Misturak of Granite City; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Hogan-Yarbrough and Mike Yarbrough of Granite City; grandchildren, DeAnn Ehlers, Traci Hinterser, Jason Lee, Kristi Gonzalez, Michael Lee, Alexis Yarber and Kristi Yarbrough; great grandchildren, Lauren, Kelsie, Kyle, Jordan, Cody, Matthew, Joshua; Madison, Ethen, Jaxan, Carson, Ellyana and Finnick; great-great grandchildren, Prudence, Keegan and Wyatt; sister, Mary Jaco of Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy "Nadine" and Roger Crose of Tennessee, Barbara and Erett Walchak of Tennessee, Michael Poling of Granite City; Maxie and Lois Ross of New York and Michael Steven Ross of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donnie Lee; grandsons, Stephen Lee, John Lee and Roy "Albert" Hogan III; brother, Frank Misturak and a sister, Tillie McMurtry. In celebration of his life, vistiation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
