Harry David Ward, age 70, of Bethalto, passed away Monday September 14, 2015, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
He was born May 27, 1945, in Johnstown, PA, the son of Martin and Kathryn (Barham) Ward. He was a graduate of Civic Memorial High School. Harry had worked for McDonnell Douglas for three years before enlisting with the United States Army. He had served as an MP before retiring. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post #1308, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his step-mother, Fay Ward of Bethalto; a brother and his wife, Chet and Melinda Ward of Crystal Lake, IL; and a sister and her husband, Stella and Jerry Grzesik of Canton, MI.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A private graveside burial took place Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery officiated by Pastor David Heyen with military honors given.
Memorials may be made to Bethalto Methodist Church or the Bethalto American Legion.
