Gerald D. “Jerry” Dorris, 75, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born September 25, 1938 in Alton, he was the son of Cloyd Dorris and Roberta (Ferguson) Henry. Mr. Dorris served in the U.S. Navy and retired from McDonnell Douglas. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and working out at Nautilus. On July 7, 1962 he married the former Nancy J. Hoffman. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Dorris (Karen) of Bloomington, IL, and Scott Dorris of Godfrey, three grandchildren, Megan Knuth (Kyle) of Circle, Montana, Rachel Dorris of Godfrey, and Jack Dorris of Godfrey, a brother, Ronald Dorris (Shari) of Alton, and his mother-in-law, Dolores Hoffman of Godfrey. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014. Virginia Ilch will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
