George Teasley Jr

Wood River |

George M. Teasley, Jr., 89, passed away 4:20 a.m. Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.

Born in Wood River on July 1, 1925, he was the son of George M. Sr., and Blanch E. (Parker) Teasley.

A World War II, US. Marine Corps veteran serving in the South Pacific and was wounded in Saipan.  He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton, a life-member of Wood River V.F.W. Post 2859, Disabled American Veterans and Moose Lodge #1349.

George had worked for AMOCO for 38 years before retiring in 1981.

On March 30, 1946 in Wood River, he married the former June M. Crull.  She died June 30, 1989.

Surviving are two sons, Gary and his wife Beverly Teasley of Huntsville, AL, George, III "Cotton" Teasley of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren;and a sister, Grace Horn of Sanibel Island, FL.

Preceding in death were his parents; wife; and two brothers, Finley and Parker Teasley.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.  Rev. Bill Pyatt will officiate.

Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Military rites will be presented by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, BJC Hospice or the church.
