Genevieve Woods

Genevieve Irene Woods, 77, died at 1:56 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.She was born on April 11, 1938 in Jerseyville, and was the daughter of the late Harvey M. & Grace Eileen (Hooper) Henson.Genevieve resided in rural Kane for many years raising her family of six children, and took pride in being a homemaker providing her children with a loving home.  She was a member of the Kane Church of Christ, as well as the Humane Society of Illinois.Surviving are a son, James Woods of Las Vegas, NV..; four daughters & sons in law, Connie & Michael Springman of Kane, Audrey Jones of Carrollton, Theresa & Gregg Meyer of Jerseyville, and Rachel & Jeff Woods of Bethalto;  10 grandchildren,  Liz Richards, Joe Terpening, Jenny Bryson, Kristie Cook, Craig Jones, Stephanie Meyer, Marisa Meyer, Brad Woods, Amanda Pruitt, and Megan Springman; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Henson of Myrtle Beach, SC., and Harvey Henson of Jerseyville; three sisters, Naomi Miller of Sedalia, Co., Linda Haskell of Bethalto, and Karen Vassenkemper of East Alton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Bradley "Chopper" Woods on Sept. 14, 2014; two brothers, Melvin Henson & Donald Henson; and an infant niece, Susan Miller.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday.  Rev. Ed Haun will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials would be preferred to the Riverbend Humane Society or to the Humane Society of the United States.
