Frances Thompson

Frances Marie Thompson, 83, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.

Born May 12, 1931 in Bono, Ark., she was the daughter of James W. Estes and Mary Frances (Cook) Estes Lee.

She married Billy R. Thompson in Bono on Aug. 3, 1953.  He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Peggy (Nick) Giacalone of Bethalto and Nikki (Jason) Lockhart of Alton; a son, Tim Thompson of Dorsey; grandchildren Kristin (Travis) Steward, Nicholas J. Giacalone, Lindsay (Kyle) Kampwerth, and Grant and T.J. Lockhart; 2 great grandchildren, Sam Steward and Kolton Kampwerth; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ruby (R.L.) Johnson of Granite City, and JoAnn Martin of Arkansas; brother-in-law Joe (Doris) Thompson, of Arkansas; and sister-in-law Wilma Lee; and the many kids she babysat through the years.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and stepfather Thomas Lee; a brother, Troy Estes and a stepbrother, Hildred Lee.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Apr. 27 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 28.  Pastors Brian Crippen and Ron Wenzel will officiate.

Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or Rosewood Heights Community Church, where she was a longtime member.
