Evelyn C. "Babe" Oseland, 88, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
Born in Alton on June 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Raich) Skundrich.
She had been a secretary for St. Bernard Catholic Church and School in Wood River for 35 years before retiring in 2005.
On March 24, 1951 in Wood River, she married Theodore E. 'Gene' Oseland. He died December 27, 1996.
She is survived by a son, Kevin (Brenda) Oseland of Wood River; three daughters, Lynise Oseland, Shelley (Leonard) Fitzgerald and Kim Oseland all of Wood River; four grandchildren, Gregory and Katelyn Fitzgerald, Alana and Timmy Oseland; three step-grandchildren, Clay Arnold, Christie and Eric Browder; three step great grandchildren; a brother, George Skundrich of Wood River; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Oseland of Hartford.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a son, Brad Oseland; six brothers, Mike, Nick, John, Joe, Frank and Steve Skundrich; and three sisters, Katie Carach, Mary "Mame" Skundrich and Frances "Totsie" Kucinick.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father James Flach will be celebrant.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
