Ernie Gleason

Ernie Gleason, 62, passed away of a broken heart on Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home.

He was born Jan. 22, 1953 in St. Louis, Mo.  He was a forklift driver for Christy Refractories.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Lacy Gleason of Wood River and Deann (Vance Schollmeyer) Gleason of Godfrey; 10 grandchildren; 8 ½ great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Yvonne Strader of Jackson, Miss., Sally Ann Counts of Alton, Mary (Jim) Riggs of Fla; and Melinda (James) Cross of Alton; a brother, John Gleason of East Alton; his lifelong girlfriend of 19 years, Gloria Murphy; his ex-wife Virginia Gleason of Wood River; and his lifelong friend Alan Cox.

He grieved the passing of his beloved son, Johnny Gleason, whose life meant so much to Ernie that his heart couldn’t stand the grief of living without him.

Memorial visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals Saturday, Sept. 26 from 1 p.m. until memorial services begin at 3 p.m.
