Elaine B. Reinke, 100, of Rosewood Heights passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born March 2, 1923 in Bunker Hill to Chester and Viola (Oldenettel) Kehr. She married Edwin “Ed” W. Reinke September 29, 1946 in Bunker Hill at Zion Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death August 23, 2016.
Elaine was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan, she enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle and was active in raising her granddaughter, Mallory and attending her activities. She also loved her church and her church family.
She is survived by a son: Gene (Kathleen) Reinke of Edwardsville, IL; a daughter: Cheryl (Rich) Simmons-Hahnenkamp of Edwardsville, IL; 6 grandchildren: Mallory Simmons, Andrew Weaver, Amy Kingsbury, Angie Kirkpatrick, Risha Hargrave & Richie Hahnenkamp; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and a sister: Shirley Ponatto of Wilsonville, IL.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert and Shirven Kehr: 3 sisters: Elvera Ferraris, Leona Myers & Dolores Davis and a grandchild Leah Vandergriff.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River, where Pastor David Schultz will officiate services at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
