Dorcas Emma Smith, 82, passed away at 2:50 pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on December 7, 1932 in Hendrickson, MO, the daughter of Samuel W. and Sylvia Alma (Keele) Skief.
She married Rev. Verlin Frederick Smith on August 13, 1949 in Flint, Michigan. He passed away January 27, 1997.
Dorcas was a homemaker and a home healthcare provider. She served the community alongside her husband as pastor’s wife, and military spouse. She was associated with the Edwardsville General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry W. (Patricia) Smith of Grapevine, TX and Lawrence R. (Patricia “Sue”) Smith of Layton, Utah, four grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Eric and Erin Smith; one great grandson and three sisters, Alma Koller and Lois Seals of Edwardsville, and Dorothy Martin of Troy.
In celebration of her life a memorial visitation will be from 5 pm until time of services at 6 pm Friday at the Edwardsville General Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and three brothers.
