Carl Edward Clayton, 87, of Glen Carbon, IL passed away in his home on March 11, 2024.
He was born to the late Guy and Birdie (Henderson) Martin on February 14, 1937, and was adopted by Lauren and Cora Clayton. Carl became an over the road truck driver after serving in the U. S Army. He met Linda Rappsis and they were married on June 15, 1985 in Granite City, IL. Carl enjoyed woodworking and fishing and spending time with his family.
Carl is survived by 3 daughters: Elizabeth (Ed) Schoffstal, Becky (William) Casper, Star (Thomas) Breihan; 2 sons: Carl (Patricia) Clayton Jr, Jesse Bone; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a brother: Melvin Martin and a sister: Dorothy Blevins.
Besides his parents, Carl is preceded in death by a son: Mark Bone; 4 brothers: Jim Martin Bob Martin, Bill Martin, Arthur Martin; and 4 sisters: Pearl Martin, Glenda Spradling, Gladys Young and Cora Zimmerman.
Carl will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
