Bernice Thomas

Mother Bernice Thomas, 78 went to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness, Sunday morning, August 30, 2015 at Kindred hospital of St. Louis Mo.  Bernice was born October 26, 1936 in Kosciusko, MS to the union of the late Mr. James and Alberta Hana (Carr) Holten.Mother Thomas professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was a faithful mother at Webster Temple Church of God in Christ until her health failed. She was married to the late Frank Thomas, Sr.  Bernice worked for many years as a bus monitor for the Alton Public Schools.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: a beloved daughter, Mary Ann Littiz;3 sisters, Vera Holton, Virdell Holton,  and Virginia Holton; 2 brothers, James “Slim” Holton, Jr. and Willie ”Sonny “ Holton; and a step-mother,  Willie Elma Holton. Mother Thomas leaves to cherish fond memories: 7 children,  Randy(Tanya) Veasley Sr. of Virginia,  Sheila  Littizs of CA, Sa Brina Littizs- Taylor of IL, Steffanie Littizs of IL, Willie (Missy) Veasley of FL,  Christina Veasley of IL, and Carletha(Brian) Langford of IL;  3 sisters, Flora Coleman of Wisconsin, Della Porter of lL, and Billie  Jean Yates (sister) of MO; 22 grandchildren; 33 Great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 13 Honorary children the Prices’ and the Thomas’; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  The visitation will convene Friday, September 11, 2015 from 9 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Pastor Albert Watson will officiate.  Guest registry and condolences are available Harrison Funeral Chapel : Alton, Illinois (IL)
