Bennie Louis Cook, 81, passed away with his loving family by his side at 9:23 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey. Born December 24, 1934 in Gale, IL, he was the son of Lafayette and Edna (Cook) Johndrow. Bennie graduated from Alton High School and then joined the Navy. He served in the Korean War aboard a Destroyer. He worked for Colonial Bakery retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 1308 and the Full Moon Masonic Lodge #341. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He married Barbara Bennett in June 1956 in Madison, IN. She survived. Also surviving is a daughter Kim Anderson (Terry) of Alton, a son, Danny Cook (Nancy) of Elsah, five grandchildren, Marissa Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Lauren Margeson (Danny), Ciara Cook and Morgan Cook, two great grandchildren, Chloe and Noah, a step-brother Ed Walters of Villa Ridge, IL and a half sister, Jean McMillan of Battle Creek, MI. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melody and a step sister, Betty Simpson. Visitation will be from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Private family services will be held at a later date.
