Arlene Walker, 97, died at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born February 20, 1916 in Alton the son of the late William and Theresa (Henschel) Mckinney. She was a clerk for PN Hersch store for many years. She volunteered at the Catholic Children’s Home and was a Foster Grandparent with the Alton School system and a past member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. On June 21, 1941 in St. Charles she married Carl D. Walker and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1958. She was survived by two sons; Robert Walker and his wife Sandra of Wood River, Carl Walker who passed away January 2, 2014 and one daughter in law; Marsha “Diane” Walker of Alton, three grandchildren; Dean Walker of St. Petersburg, FL, Jolee Oder of Florida and Keith Walker of Aton, one sister; Wilma Bobbs of Alton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Johnston to officiate.
