Anna Clemence Karg Green, 91, went to Heaven on Saturday, August 8, 2015. She was born to Carl C. and Frances (Shubert) Karg on July 15, 1924 in Lively Grove, IL. She was married to Russell Lee Green Jr. on February 4, 1951 in Okawville, IL. Russell passed away November 9, 1980. Anna lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Mark Hausman of Alton. She had been in failing health for the past several years. Anna and Russell had seven children, Karen Howser of Jefferson City, MO, Harry Green (Mary K) of Brighton, Russell L. Green Jr. (Helen Ruth) of Lake Ozark, MO, Terry Green of Alton, Jeri Hausman (Mark) of Alton, Greg Green (Kelly) of Shawnee, KS, and Gordon Green (Donna) of Monroe Center, IL, 23 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She has two brothers, Norman Karg (Delores) of Lively Grove, IL, and Carl Karg of Murphysboro, IL, and a sister, Frances Patton of Oakdale, IL. One brother, Frank Karg preceded her in death. Anna also had a special caregiver, Lacie Walters. Anna was a wonderful loving and giving sister and sister-in-law, mother and mother-in-law, grandma, great grandma, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many. Anna was a homemaker all of her life. She grew up on a farm and then worked very hard on her own small farm to help support her family. She sold many home grown vegetables and eggs. She also became a cake decorator and made many celebratory cakes including beautiful wedding cakes. She was also an Avon Representative. As a volunteer, she served as PTA and school parent and for her children’s sports team’s fundraisers. She served as Bethel Guardian for Jobs Daughters #95 of Alton. She served as Worthy Matron of Alton Chapter #775 Order of Eastern Star nine times. She is a current member of Hardin Chapter OES. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, this was very important to her. She was also a voting judge for Madison County. Anna was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Alton Meals or Wheels or a charity of choice.
