Jean Cottrell-Davis, 88, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born July 4, 1925 in Waverly, IL, she was the daughter of Edmund and Louise (Wood) Turner. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Epsicopal Church in Alton. She worked as a secretary for Miller’s Mutual, an executive secretary for Olin, and retired as secretary from J.C. Penney Co. after 26 years of service. She married John Cottrell and he preceded her in death in 1983. She then married Walter A. Davis. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Jane L. Zarantonello of Alton, a grandson, Jason Zarantonello, a great grandchild, Emma Zarantonello, and a sister-in-law, Evalena O’Dell of Brighton.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by a procession to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Father David Boase will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
